Re: [Question] [Problem] Lag

just be patient guys, i heard tmnet start to setting up their HSBB already. optical fibre line = 9000 times better than copper line. probably next year we're going to play online fps @ <10ms. latest info from tmnet insider tell we're going to have at least 20mbps dl & 10mbps ul within rm200 range. for now we cant really do anything , try checking snr margin inside your router/modem , so you know how bad your line is.
1~9 = Disconnection issue
9~15 = disconnection issue + high latency + loss packet
15~21 = losspacket + high latency
21~29 = average
>29 = excellent condition

Could you explain briefly what is that?

Well, if so, what could I do to rectify it?

Before when I am using 1mbps the SNR Margin are like 20+ after downgrading it is 30+. So I think lower speed have higher SNR Margin eh?

No.. SNR Margin doesnt depend on your connection speed. Lower speed does not necessarily mean higher SNR margin.

Example. Mine is 1mbps.

  Code:
SNR Margin (dB):     31.1      23.0
Attenuation (dB):    10.0     2.2
Output Power (dBm):    4.6     23.0

Refer here as a guideline (If you haven't seen this)

You can watch things happen, you can make things happen, or you can wonder : what the heck happened?

Re: [Question] [Problem] Lag

just now, the technician came to my house (again)
i told them this is weird why is my connection like this,
they said:
oh i think the cable has malfunction or damage, so i was like, ok,, could u change it whether it improves the line/connection,
so i have to wait till next monday for them (again) to change it..
lets see if they change it this time will there be any spikes?

Re: [Question] [Problem] Lag

The technician just came to my house too.

Well, he said he gave me a 2mpbs new port but when he check on my modem, it show 1024.

Anyway, the problem still persist and he said that he is going to change back to the old port and see whether there is any changes. Then after some talking.. he said that the line around my area isn't that good anymore and he told streamyx to change it but streamyx doesn't want to, he even scold streamyx.. <_<

So, till now the problem still persist..

@Eric, well my SNR margin did increase after I downgraded. :?

Re: [Question] [Problem] Lag

try changing the LAN cable first, then try to clean the phone 'plughole' . or change/clean the of the lan cable's connector .

sometimes modem/router can be the main problem, try to use your friend's modem/router and test.

Re: [Question] [Problem] Lag

Clean eh? There is much dust in the phone socket, a few dust particle won't make my ping to shoot up till Mt. Everest, would it?

I am using a new modem. From streamyx some more..

Btw, would different os affect my ping too? Recently, I have upgrade to Windows 7 and the problem starts to occur. My fps too drop after using Windows 7.

Is the fps drop normal since I am using Windows 7 which use more processing power and ram and such?
But, how about high ping, do this apply in ping too?

Re: [Question] [Problem] Lag

There are people who could play smoothly on Windows 7 too, right?..

@Royal, when you said they upgrade you to 2mbps for free, you mean your package is 2mbps or the port of your line is 2mbps?

Btw, which area are you in?

Re: [Question] [Problem] Lag

yea. the win 7 tcp/ip thingy actually caused it dunno how.
cause this problem is the same as VISTA, however the vista solution was easy, off the tcp iv6 and u get back ur normal connection, but for win 7...
i dunno .. and still tm nut did play abit role in the lag, since theres a cable outage too =3
